About Me

Veronica Fang began cultivating her passion for the fine arts from a young age. Since five years old, Veronica has been dancing regularly, and, by the time she reached high school, she was dancing up to 18 hours per week. The main styles of dance that Veronica has focused on are Ballet, classical Chinese dance, and Contemporary. In the last few years, she has also choreographed a couple of dances and taught both group and private dance lessons as a dance instructor. Veronica also practices competitive dance, placing in the overall top three championship at nationals. Similarly, Veronica began drawing from a young age. As her passion for art grew, she began to experiment with a plethora of different art medias, including pastels, oil paints, color pencils, acrylics, watercolors, and more. She later began to enter art competitions, leading her to receive awards in the acclaimed contests of Scholastic and VASE. Sharing her passion with others, she enjoys teaching dance and art lessons for younger children in person as well as virtually.

She pursued her passions in high school at Hockaday as well. During senior year, Veronica served as a captain of Hockadance, which is Hockaday’s dance fine arts program. As captain, she organized meetings throughout the year, helped the dance director prepare for school performances, and designed the logo for Hockadance. She also served as the Dance Representative on the Fine Arts Board of the Student Council. Her responsibilities were to serve as a connection between the Student Council and Hockadance as well as to initiate a new outreach program. Since freshman year, Veronica founded the Arts & Crafts Club as the president. The purpose of this club is to teach students who are interested in art and offer a place to de-stress from the pressures of school. She has also served on the leadership

team of the Hockaday Dance Society (HDS) and was the 2021-2022 president of HDS. Members of this club have the chance to be exposed to different styles dance by learning a variety of combinations. Throughout the year, Veronica worked to choreograph new combinations and contact guest dance teachers to teach sessions. At Hockaday, she also served as a writing center intern, where she helped students in the upper school division with editing their essays. Through this role, Veronica improved her communication and explanation skills, which have had a large influence on her effectiveness as a dance and art teacher. In addition, Veronica served as an H-Club member, whose role is to aid the Hockaday administration department in welcoming prospective students, providing tours of the school, and organizing admin events. H-Club has similarly been beneficial in helping Veronica to become a better teacher and more active role model in her community.

In her spare time, Veronica enjoys serving and learning about both her community and the environment. Her desire to help others has motivated her to become involved in community service organizations, environmental internships, and fundraisers. For several years, Veronica has served as a VP of the Dallas Youth Volunteer Association (DYVA), an organization that provides members with volunteer opportunities by organizing community service events and contacting other organizations. Her responsibilities include organizing charity showcases, coordinating performances at senior homes, and contacting festival planning committees to provide volunteer opportunities for DYVA members. During the summer, Veronica has worked as a Dallas Environmental Education Initiative (EEI) intern to research various aspects of the crucial role of water in our world and aid EEI in their education of DISD schools on the importance of water conservation. When the coronavirus pandemic swept the globe, Veronica founded a Go Fund Me, “Combatting COVID-19,” to raise donations for UT Southwestern Medical Center. All money that Veronica earns through teaching dance and art lessons will go towards this fundraiser to fight against corona.
