COVID-19 Changes

When COVID-19 first struck, our everyday life and surroundings underwent considerable changes. My school closed the campus and shifted completely to distance learning. Dance studios shut down all in-person classes as well. Because dance is an activity that requires constant practice and several of the younger students at my Chinese dance studio had been preparing to start learning Ballet, the initial idea of teaching virtual Ballet foundation sessions came to me at that time. I decided to introduce the basics of Ballet by posting videos online weekly while the dance studio is closed. In addition, Ballet bar does not require a large space, which makes it something easy to follow along while at home.

Even when my dance studio opened for in-person classes again, practicing dance at home had become more popular than prior to the pandemic. I also received some responses from students as well as adults that my dance teaching sessions have been helpful. Since these sessions were a great way for me to help others with what I learned, I continued posting teaching videos and later started teaching solo dances on my YouTube channel

As the dance studio gradually reopened, I continued teaching some of the younger students in person through group Ballet foundation classes. Although virtual dance practice is a helpful way to train and learn dance, in person classes allow me to be even more effective by personally making corrections to the students as they dance.

You are welcome join my group ballet lesson at the dance studio. I also offer private one-on-one lesson for both dance and the visual arts. Both virtual and in person sessions are available. Personally, I would prefer teaching you in person if you feel safe and comfortable since it offers a more effective lesson.

At the beginning for Pandemic, almost all dance studio closed.  At that time, I started to provide free group dance virtually, at the same time I video-taped some small dancing clips of ballet foundation and uploaded to my youTube Dance Channel. I felt so achievable by seeing little ones followed me to learn ballet just from home!  I found another way to give what I learned back to more people! It is so encouraged when I heard not only from parents from young kids, but also from the colleagues and friends of my mom saying they followed my youTube videos to do exercises!

I started teaching Visual Arts class virtually during the Pandemic.  Thanks for the trust these young students gave back to me!  I would like to let you know that I have been so enjoyed to share my drawing experience with you!

Below, I have included several videos that I posted to teach foundational Ballet techniques. Each of them will direct you to my YouTube channel if you click on the ballerina image in top left corner of the video. On my channel, you will be able to find even more videos to facilitate your dance practice.
